The R22 Helicopter Discovery Day is a great choice for anyone thinking of taking their PPL(H) or for an extra-special occasion.
Your experience includes two hours of ground briefings to go through various techniques, followed by two hours in the aircraft, where you’ll get the chance to show your instructor what you have learned.
The flight time will normally be split into two or three separate sectors including basic controls, navigation and emergency procedures (if you are brave enough!). You will receive a certificate signed by your instructor as a memento of your day. All flight time also counts towards the requirements of the PPL(H) course, should you wish to continue with further lessons.

R22 Introductory Helicopter Pilot Experience
£125Move into the pilot’s seat and take the controls with Central Helicopters’ R22 Introductory Helicopter Pilot Experience.
Your experience will start with a short classroom briefing on the techniques required to control the aircraft, then it is your turn to show the instructor what you have learned during a practical lesson of 15 minutes.
Don’t worry though the aircraft is fully dual controlled and you can be as much or as little ‘hands-on’ as you feel comfortable with. So, for those who are a little more reserved, sit back and enjoy the ride while your instructor takes the controls.
On completion of the flight you will be presented with a certificate signed by your instructor.
